On February 23, the announcement was made by NTT East that IPv6 addresses will be allocated to all B FLET'S subscriber lines in view of future new service expansion. New subscriber lines added from February 24 will be the ones to have IPv6 addresses, followed by existing users to whom IPv6 addresses will be allocated when necessary preparation is done.
The address block size is /64, and there is no guarantee on which prefix will be allocated or fixed. For the time being, NTT East only "allocates addresses" and doesn't either provide IPv6 enabled services or allow IPv6 communication between FLET'S users.
The purpose of this phased approach is, according to NTT East, to be ready for new IPv6 enabled application services over B BLET'S network in the future.
To solve the issue of slower connection, NTT East also offers a how-to page for current IPv6 users, for example Windows Vista or Windows XP SP2 users as well as users who enjoy other provider's IPv6 services.
"FLET'S .NET", an IPv6 closed network service currently offered by NTT East, will continue operation as well.
