CAIDA (Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis), based at San Diego Supercomputing Center of University of California San Diego, conducts various infrastructure-level monitoring and analysis of the Internet, including DNS, routing, and performance, in cooperation with other organizations and individuals.
CAIDA published IPv6 Internet Topology Map on its Web site on March 16, 2005. This is an IPv6 version of its Internet Topology Map. The IPv6 Map is a visual representation of IPv6 connectivity among ASes (mostly ISPs) around the world. The map positions ASes with richer peering toward the center, while the angle reflects geographical locations (longitudes) of the headquarters of these ASes. The topology is a snapshot taken on March 4, 2005.
CAIDA found that AS with the most peering is NTT/Verio based in Japan, and richest IPv6 cluster is in Europe. This is in sharp contrast with IPv4 topology map, which shows heavy concentration of AS connectivity to North American ISPs.
