MagiCon, remote control system for networked home electronics devices for use with mobile phone
At “Home Electronics IPv6 Solutions Corner”, NTT Communications demoed MagiCon, a remote control system for networed home electronics devices it developed with Softfront.
MagiCon is an application to control office and home electronics devices over network. It assures connectivity and security by using “m2m-x” promoted by NTT Communications for device to device communications.
For demonstration, the remote control software was installed on NTT Docomo smart phone “M1000” to control a video phone.
“IPv6 Appli-contest 2005” Winners Exhibited
The exhibition included a booth for “IPv6 Appli-contest”, a contest of applications and services using IPv6.
Grand Prix for this year went to Minimum IPv6 stack for Bootloader “g00ff”. g00ff is a bootloader with an IPv6 stack for M32R, embedded processor developed by Renesas Technology.
It can boot an OS over network. It only implements IPv6, without IPv4 stack, resulting in a very compact program.
Top Prize in the Corporate Category of the Implementation Awards went to Virtual IPv6 Lighting Control System BX (Building eXchange), jointly developed by IRI Ubiteq and Matsushita Electric Works.
BX is gateway system that translates proprietary sensor protocol by building management system to IPv6. This makes it possible to IP-enable existing building management system, for remote control and for integrating different systems by multiple vendors.
