GLOBAL IP BUSINESS EXCHANGE 2006, a conference and exhibition of IPv6 products and services, was held in Akihabara from February 15th through the 16th, 2006.  We will report on the products and services at the exhibition site, focusing on the most interesting ones.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation aims to improve ubiquitous networking using IPv6 and electronic tags

Yokogawa Electric demonstrated sensor devices that are IP-enabled and wireless for factories and large-scale plants.

Up until now, sensors at such plants were often wired and using their own protocol; however, by making them IP-enabled and wireless, they say that you can do away with wiring cables and that you can use devices based on open standards.

NTT West provides a resident-notification service using blogs and IPv6

NTT West was displaying a system that notifies residents of announcements by local governments using blogs, and at the same time broadcasts the information using an IPv6-enabled messenger.

Using a blog makes it possible to notify large populations; however, it does not mean that every resident will read it.  So, by triggering a trackback when the entry is updated, this system will send the message directly to residents considered to be in need of this information using an IPv6-enabled messenger.
