Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic) will offer new network cameras for home that support both IPv6 and MPEG-4 from February 17. The prices are open, but expected around 30,000 yen for BL-C111 and 40,000 yen for BL-C131. BL-C111 is for a wired LAN, while BL-C131 can be used for both a wired and wireless LAN.
The two products are successors of BL-C11(wired only) and BC-C31 (wired and wireless) that were released in July 2005. The new features include IPv6 support for server, MPEG-4 support in addition to Motion-JPEG for movie formats, and an internal microphone that enables voice communication.
Also, the new products support "Miemasu Netto Lite", a service that facilitates the usage of a network camera from a cellular phone. With this service, video captured by the network camera is subsequently uploaded to an external server and can be viewed from a cellular phone. Users do not need to go through complicated router settings, and captured video can be saved even when the camera is damaged or broken. The service costs 315 yen per month (30 days).
