ACCESS, Adobe say can view PDF files on mobile devices

tags:

ACCESS and Adobe Systems announced the two firms will team up to allow mobile and non-PC consumer electronic devices to read PDF (Portable Document Format) files. The companies will provide a solution which would merge Adobe's Adobe Reader (former Acrobat Reader) and ACCESS's NetFront.

ACCESS has provided a web browser (NetFront) to a wide range of devices, from cell phones and PDA to non-PC consumer electronic devices, while Adobe has offered free use of its "Acrobat Reader" for Pocket PC. With the new collaboration, it will be possible to use PDF files on platforms other than the PC, such as PDAs and car navigation systems.

ACCESS said it is still undecided which product will be available for which device, but added "we would most likely offer it first to PDAs and cell phones."
